Time to Play for Bigs and Littles at Big Toy Playground
Big Toy Playground at Palmetto Island County Park is one of my favorite playgrounds in Mount Pleasant. Located off Long Point Road, it has so many different areas to play with pieces of equipment for all ages.
There’s a toddler area for ages 5 and under as well as larger equipment with slides and climbing pieces for ages 6 and up. One of my favorite features - the shade!! You can relax under a canopy of so many trees, stay cool and keep out of the blazing South Carolina sun.
I love to go to the park in autumn and pick fallen leaves with my kids. The playground area is surrounded by picnic tables and covered areas. I’ve been there a few times while someone was hosting a kid’s birthday party or family reunion. The playground has a sand area with small and large rocks for climbing. There are swings, baby swings and a tire swing.
The county park has a dog park, sand volleyball courts, horseshoe pits, trails, fishing and crabbing docks, a 50-foot observation tower, and tons of grass fields. They offer paddle boat and bicycle rentals, party packages, snack bar and vending machines. South Carolina residents get a discount on a county park membership which will get you free into all county parks and great parking at the Isle of Palms beach.
Don’t forget to check out Splash Island Waterpark’s hours, which currently is only open on weekends but so much fun. So go outside and play!
