Halls Chophouse: Amazing Meal With a V.I.P. Feel

Halls Chophouse

Halls Chophouse on King Street in downtown Charleston knows how to treat someone with world-class service. As in, I worked in the hospitality industry for 7 years, and I was immediately impressed by their customer service.

They treat everyone who walks through their doors like a V.I.P. We showed up at 6:00 p.m. on a Friday night without reservations. We were greeted with smiles, introductions and seats at the bar. Exactly where we wanted to sit for the evening. The piano was playing and the atmosphere was lively. The place was filled with couples, friends and families.

We enjoyed unforgettable cocktails, local beers from Edmunds Oast Brewing Co and an amazing meal. We ordered the prime steak tartare, stuffed portobello mushrooms with prosciutto and fontina, Japanese wagyu filet with loaded mash potatoes and caramel cake.

This was my first time having wagyu, and it definitely will not be my last! This was the BEST steak I’ve ever had. Sorry - we’ve ever had. Melt-in-your-mouth, does-not-require-a-knife kind-of-steak.

We are usually a crème brûlée kind of couple because you always have room for crème brûlée. But tonight, we took the bartender's recommendation and went for the caramel cake. And I'm so glad we did! It was the perfect blend of ice cream, cake and banana with crunch.

Great ending to an unforgettable meal.
